The spirit of Gbidukorza is alive and burning bright as the 2025 Gbidukor Inter-Basic Schools Quiz Competition officially kicked off in Hohoe on Thursday, 13th November 2025. 

The first phase of the preliminaries saw a thrilling showcase of knowledge, confidence and community pride as twelve (12) schools from Hohoe East and West Circuits locked horns for a chance to represent their circuits in the next round.

Dual Venues, One Purpose

The Hohoe East contests took place at Gbi-Central R/C Boys, beginning at 10:30 a.m., while the Hohoe West showdown followed at E.P. JHS at 12:00 noon. Each school was represented by three eager contestants, all determined to make their school proud and advance to the next stage.

The Results Are In!

After an intense series of questions, two schools rose above the rest:

Hohoe East Circuit

1. St. Francis Demonstration Basic ‘A’ JHS – 33 points
2. Gbi-Central R/C Boys JHS – 27 points
3. Gbi-Kpeme M/A JHS – 25 points

Other participants included St. Teresa’s Girls Demonstration JHS and Gbi Kodzofe M/A JHS, both of whom displayed impressive team spirit and determination.

Hohoe West Circuit

1. Holy Rosary R/C JHS – 23 points
2. E.P. Basic ‘A’ JHS – 21 points
3. Adabraka Aswaj Arabic JHS – 15 points

The competition also featured strong performances from A.M.E. Zion JHS, E.P. Park Basic ‘B’, E.P. Basic ‘C’, and S.D.A. JHS.

Behind the Scenes

The contest was moderated by Madam Kwame Enyonam and Mrs. Tachie Olivia, both of whom maintained an engaging and fair atmosphere throughout.

Officials from the Ghana Education Service, including Mr. Samuel Sekedu (Municipal Culture Coordinator) and Mr. Darlington Ben Amevia (Municipal Welfare Officer), were in attendance to supervise and support the event.

What’s Next?

With St. Francis Demo Basic ‘A’ JHS and Holy Rosary R/C JHS emerging victorious, both schools now advance to represent Hohoe East and West Circuits in the Inter-Circuits Finals, scheduled for Friday, 21st November 2025, at the GES Conference Room, Hohoe.

The stage is set for more thrilling rounds as we move closer to the Grand Finale, where Hohoe (Gbi-Dzigbe) will face Peki (Gbi-Nyigbe) on Friday, 5th December 2025, at Peki Adzokoe.
